佐藤哲雄

この記録について

1919年（大正8年）生まれ、新潟県村上市在住の佐藤哲雄さん。太平洋戦争中の1944年、インパール作戦に歩兵第58連隊の分隊長として加わり、コヒマの戦いで負傷しながらも生きて帰ってきました。

107歳になった佐藤さんの証言と、いまの暮らしを、YouTubeとInstagramで記録しています。新潟の言葉で話しているため、字幕は現代語に訳しています。英語字幕もあります。

Tetsuo Sato was born in 1919 and lives in Murakami, Niigata, Japan. In 1944, during World War II, he fought in the Battle of Imphal and Kohima as a squad leader in the 58th Infantry Regiment of the Imperial Japanese Army. He was wounded at Kohima, but he made it home alive. We record his testimony and his life today, with Japanese and English subtitles.
